When Technology Betrays Us

By Science Cheerleader | www.sciencecheerleader.com blog | May 20, 2008

A blog post about technology, an out-of-control cell phone, privacy, and security. The author references this 1994 OTA report on “Information Security and Privacy in Network Environments“. She also finds this 1995 issue update, which apparently never developed into a full report since OTA was in the process of being de-funded. Science Cheerleader continues to be among those in the blogosphere leading the push to bring back OTA, and you can read more about her ideas here.

  • Thanks, Nate, for referencing my article posted on ScienceCheerleader.com I’ve started a petition as a fun way to get people thinking about the reopening of the OTA. If your members of interested in signing it, the link is located at the top right-side of the navigation bar at http://www.sciencecheerleader.com . I’d also like to hear from members of the Federation of American Scientists–do they want a better version of the OTA reopened, one which includes public participation in discussions of science policy? I’m in the process of writing a piece for scienceprogress.org on the reopening of the OTA.
